There are two methods to merchandise Magento Category pages with Tagalys:


Method 1: Native rendering (default & recommended)

This method is offered in all our plans and preserves your existing theme and third-party integrations.

Requirements & Limitations

1. Products should be assigned to parent categories

If a Product is classified under Men > Shirts > Formal Shirts, the checkboxes for all three categories should be selected. If you have only selected Formal Shirts, Tagalys is unable to assign a position for this product to the parent categories. To fix this, we have included a utility with the plugin which automatically assigns any parent categories that aren't explicitly assigned. You can use this to begin with and then when adding new products or assigning new categories, you can check the parent categories too.


To assign missing parent categories for all products, run the following command from your Magento root folder (you will have to reindex the Category Product Index for this to take effect):

php app/code/community/Tagalys/Core/tagalys-processes.php assign-parent-categories

2. Multi-store setup where the same / similar products are in the same categories

If you have multiple stores which have the same / similar products in the same categories, Tagalys cannot specify a separate ordering of products per store. In this case, you should choose which store(s) you want to use for positioning in Magento Admin > Tagalys > Configuration > Listing Pages.

3. Analytics tracking has to be setup

To get page level conversion metrics and reports, you should setup Tagalys Analytics as described here

Troubleshooting

Position is not updated in the front-end

It can take upto 10 minutes for the product positions to get updated after you update a category on the Tagalys Dashboard. If the product position numbers have been updated on the Magento Category and you are still not seeing the update in the front-end, then you may have to clear any caches you have setup.


Method 2: Tagalys rendering

This method is offered on our merchant requested plans and uses the Tagalys JavaScript plugin to render the front-end. It comes with in-built analytics tracking and handles multi-store setups with same / similar categories. The UI has to be customized by your team to match your store.
